Ok so first things first, we havent gotten any mail since saturday so if anyone sent mail since then i apologize cause this is not a response to any of them. We dont get mail til like, 9 this morning. which will be about half an hour after i send this.. Anything i read in the mail today ill send in a follow up letter.
Anyway, this week was an incredibly humbling experience for me, and maybe for my companion as well. But ill get into that in a bit. On questions and other important matters, mom the health care charge was for my last hepA/B booster shot. It was the one i needed when i first got here but didnt have my immunization sheet. Should be all taken care of. So about the debit and credit card thing (AHH). You want me to stop using the debit and pay with credit then? I mean nothing i would buy would be overly expensive but ill do that then. On the luggage thing... ill look into it more but the phiithays said that they get 2 checked bags and ONE carry on bag, which includes the back pack if thats what they have. So 3 bags TOTAL. Weird i know. But ill ask more as we get closer. Also, they say to get a shoulder bag so your back doesnt get super sweaty in thailand. Ill look into that later and eventually send my backpack home. On the pants thing.. we have learned that since the dollar is so flippin awesome over in thailand that all the missionaries have super nice (or super working) houses. So we have running water, kitchens, beds and washer and dryers. So, since i feel like my dress pants will get super sweaty and gross, wouldnt it be nice to have some to able to wash during the week? Also what with the rain and stuff they will get dirty! So i took a lot of 4th of july pics and temple pics again (also video) so im just gonna send the whole SD card home. My roommate Elder Wagstaff had a bunch of card protectors so look for that this week. Don't be frightened by some of them on there... Ill talk about the ipod policy in the letter i will send after this.
Now, on to the humbling experience i was alluding to. So the TRC this week.. we SUCKED. Straight up. We went in with a total lesson plan filled out on how we were going to talk and i was so determined to get through the lesson i didnt focus on the investigators needs. Didnt follow the spirit at all which i kinda ignored. yeah.. awesome mish i know. On top of that.. NEVER READ VERSE 16 OF JOSEPH SMITH HISTORY TO A NON CHRISTIAN. Preach My gospel lead us astray! HAH actually i remember reading the PMG lesson plan and was like, "Wait isnt 16 the one about satan?" But we had her read it and as soon as i heard the words, "but exerting" i face palmed it. I could tell she was confused after and so i asked if we could clarify. Of course, she focused on "what happened at the beginning" instead of the part about GOD and Jesus Christ appearing. No recovering since we didnt cover satan. Elder Hess and i really felt down cause it was just so bad compared to last weeks TRC, which wasnt perfect by any means, but was good. So we are preparing much better this week. Also, i know you thought i sounded arrogant about the language dad, and you may have been right cause this week kind of kicked our butts. Apparently we a are week behind schedule on reading thai script (those squiggly lines). This isnt to say that it isnt coming along great because i can read certain script lines and actually read what it says! It's so cool, but insanely hard. We were supposed to be able to read/sing out of the thai hymn book but we can barely get through 1 song. Still, we are doing very well with the language. Its an incredibly fun/difficult challenge. Ill write some sentences in thai in the letter today.
So what else.. we had a special devotional on saturday night for the 4th of july.. and it was terribad. Seriously, i dug the message that they were trying to convey, but it was so poorly executed... when camera angles change shots, tell your actors to stop reading the script line for line and look at the correct camera! Also, Benjamin franklin with a doo-rag instead of a wig was just histerical. Dallas and i lost it. Yeah, dallas roach and i were sitting together. One Sister not in the film (did i mention that? it was a film presentation with the MTC choir) narrated the Dark Ages. And i quote her first line, "The Dark Ages, were Dark." Yeah, no WAY we werent going to laugh. After the sad sorry excuse for a film we went outside to watch the end of Carrie Underwoods "Stadium of fire" over at the stadium... from the MTC parking lot of course. They had a sweet fireworks presentation that we watched together and got to stay out late! Til 10 30! ahh! By the way, Elder Hess as opened up sooo much. He's hilarious! He has the funniest rapid fire chuckle laugh that you cant not laugh with. Hes still a super chick but whatever.. its funny. Roach's companion leaves today for the MTC in guatemala.. huzzah! Hes stoked. And Freddie comes in tomorrow so its good. My sleeping schedule is getting.. better. It still sucks but its better. Well i better get going.. this week was truly humbling and inspiring... we are getting better and talking about the gospel and how it affects lives and i think we will be really affective in Thailand. This work is the absolute truth! I read a quote that said, "if this be the work of men then it shall not continue, but if it be the work of God, it cannot be stopped." Thats not the exact quote but you get the idea. We go with Heavenly Father to invite others to come unto Christ.. but ultimately it is up to them to find out for themselves. I have found out the hard way that you "cannot fight this feeling(!)." Sorry i had to use that song title. Say what up to ENC for me. look for the SD card this week.. one of the SICKEST pictures ive ever taken in there. Love you all!
Choog dii! Phom rag khun!
